Hello, Beautiful! (Reviews, Rambles, Kitties)

Hi! So I've been neglecting this blog...but for good reason! The past two weeks have been crazier than the weeks before them! Filled with Macbeth tech week and performances, a bonfire, a banquet, AND senior exams. Now I'm free for the summer!...just about. I graduate this upcoming Thursday :3

But yes! Onwards to what I'd like to type about.

Well I don't actually have anything. So I am just going to say random things:

Make-up. I need some. I went to Sephora the other day, and created a $95 to $100 wishlist. I'd love some advice and what I should get as far as eyeshadow palettes! Regardless, both will live in my make-up case one day, just one before the other. With each product I want, though, I will give a mini review. Because I have sampled each one at least once!

Okay, I know it's a bronzer but I want it for foundation. If you read the reviews, others say that the color is WAY off for it to be a bronzer - way to dark. I tried it last Friday, and it is a beautiful foundation for darker skinned ladies such as myself. It blends wonderfully with my skin, which is a medium, milk chocolate brown. Which is quite enough proof it is not a good bronzer. So yes, great African American (and possibly Indian, Native-American, and Mexican) girl foundation. Bad Caucasian, Asian, etc. bronzer. As a whole, try it before you buy it.

Beautiful palette. My suite-mate is a make-up whore, like me, except she was a rich one. She owns almost every palette that can be found in Sephora and this is one of her favorites...and mine! I don't own it yet (obviously) but she is such a sweetheart that she let me use it whenever I grew tired of my make-up. Honestly, the colors really pop. What I love about the colors is that they look great on all skin colors! She is an ivory color, and the colors glowed. I am a milk chocolate, and the colors glowed! They highlight your eyes in every way. There is no need to try this before you buy it. I guarantee that it is worth it! I just hate that it comes with lip gloss rather than Primer Potion. But you honestly don't need it! I used it every night of Macbeth (hot lights, running to make entrances on the opposite side of the building, and more!) and it never wavered - and each night there was no primer used.

So I only tested this a couple of times when I visited Sephora and I am in love! The colors are very pigmented and they complimented my skin very well. I did not put any on my eye, though I can tell if they compliment the skin on my hand, then they definitely will compliment my eye color! The colors are really warm and bright (but not neon!). They just jump out at you! The store clerk recommended either this or the Naked2 out of all of my other choices. I really want this!

Okay, I haven't tested any of this, but what a great deal! Yes they are sample sized, but that is a lot of sample sized stuff! Yea, or nay?

And this all leads me into my next question: Should I just save for my SLR camera? If you've kept up with my blog, you know that my old camera and memory card was stolen during one of my many train rides home. I've wanted a SLR camera for YEARS now, and I may have enough money from graduation gifts to buy one. Should I? Or should I not? Camera or Make-Up? Make-Up or Camera? Let just hope there will be enough for both :3

Oh! And I'm trying to get a job once again. So if it works, then I can buy one or the other after a few weeks anywho<3

I have a kitty beside me right now. Its my black devil, Danger. She's been affectionate since I've been home! She's so cute :3 And this leads into my new exciting news: I HAVE CLAIMED TWO KITTIES!!!

One is a little slow bunny, named Speedy. He is so small and stupid and cuteeeeee! He's all black (so Danger has a replacement when she dies, jk! But seriously though..) and he has the spaciest look on his face constantly. I love 'im!

And next there is this gray fluff ball that I have named Sir Walter Raleigh,. He is the absolute cutest. Cuter than Speedy maybe. I'm not sure.

Now I require nourishment and liquid refreshments. I shall type later, stay tuned!

Happy Birthday!

So, today is my 18th Birthday! And I just want to give you guys a hint of what happened through-out the day:

2) Got a boot...and a bill over a thousand dollars...

3) Took the photo above :3

4) Got a kitty puzzle and a little kitty change pouch/bracelet.

5) Bit some people.

6) Continued listening to Bound To You repeatedly.

7) Got my first....kiss.. (Lame, yeah I know.)

8) Decided not to claim the comment mentioned above.

9) Rehearsal.........and rehearsal.

10) Lost my contact.

and later found it in a quite obvious place after a huge freak-out.

11) Haven't really gotten to talk to my family much.

12) Got sang to by my huge theatre family! (8th and 9th Company).

It doesn't sound that awesome, but it didn't suck that much. Truly..it didn't. I just wish I could've been at home with my family. And I really want some cake... But hey, we can't always get what we want. Oh! And something really awesome happened! But its personal/spirtual and I won't bore you with it. I love you guys, night!

Cool Hair

I am so very bored with my hair. But since I'm trying to grow it out and get back its original thickness, I can't do anything fun to it. *Dramatically flips her weave*  So what I do during moments like these, I look at cool hair ideas and colors that I would adore having. So here are what I found recently, and maybe they can inspire your future hair style :3

Cute, no? And if you couldn't tell by now, I love pastels. Especially in hair. And during my Google endeavor, I found this site: We Love Pastel Hair. Check 'em out, yes?

I have to head to class, but tell me what you think about these styles? And post some of your favorite  hair, whether its yours or not!

Today's Epiphany - Spirtual Stuff and Junk

First thing first, I hope you fully enjoyed the picture above. Anywho, while wrestling with some unsettling events and thoughts that I shant bore you with, I realized something. Now, at first all of the following "us" and "we" used to be "me" and "I". But then I realize how this applies to everyone. I really hope those who have some unhappiness in their life will read this and find some type of help from my words.

God made us who we are for a reason. There is a vast difference between who we want to be, and who we are meant to be. We easily get them confused. Say I loved to bake, and I wanted to be a famous pastry chef. But I also have a gift for sewing. The road God has set aside for me might be the one sewn on fabric with buttons scattered on it. But due to my strong love for baking, I think I am destined to be a pastry chef and I constantly take the detour decorated with icing and sprinkles. Yes I will have my successes, but I may find more failures. And sewing keeps popping up. I need to sew my uniform up. I keep getting constant orders about fashion/clothing themed cakes. I have to make all of my clothes. Sometimes it blatantly obvious when we need to hop off one train and get on the correct one. But we try to change out fate, we try to change God's plan. We may be unhappy that we can't be what we wanted, we can't be what we had planned. Have you ever considered that there is a reason we aren't all skinny? Or tall? Or able to hit a high C? My dearest teacher Mrs. Tammy says that we all have a gift. There is no such thing as talent. We were created to do something specific, and when the time comes for us to use this gift, we are going to blow the world away. I agree. I understand I don't have the open personality like most. That my sense of humor can be crude. That I am quieter than others, but maybe it is vital that I am like this. I find myself constantly trying to turn myself the opposite direction so I can fit in better. I feel a tad bit misshapen, like I need to chisel away a few details before I can fit in like I want. But obviously I just need to hop on over to the next train. I know I'm close to finding that perfect spot, I just need to keep moving along the path God created for me rather than adjusting myself so I can feel better. So I can seem prettier or more likeable. Think of it this way, when you do reach that perfect place for yourself, you still won't be able to fit. You got rid of so much of yourself that now the placement is too big and you can't reach the bar. As cliche as it is, never change yourself. Let God's will take control. He will always put you exactly where you need to be. Even when it seems like He just tossed you away; He put you in that awful position for some crucial reason. And as soon as your task has been completed, He'll move you on to the next step - leading you to the top of the mountain.

Now...I just have to actually TAKE this advice because I am guaranteed to go through the same trials that I went through all day today. I know it. And if not tomorrow, the day after that.

That tis all... enjoy this too:

No lie, if I knew I could pull it off w/o looking ugly and w/o my hair falling out, I'd do this.

iloveyouall. Oh. I wanted to go to Hang Out Fest with some friends. But I can't. Because its too expensive and sold out. :( So if you have a ticket, I strongly dislike you. Listen to these songs:

Sail by AWOLNATION

Young Blood by The Naked and Famous

We Are Young by fun. Feat Janelle

Summer Angel by Minus the Bear

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST

You Ain't Alone by Alabama Shakes

Book-A-Holic

So...quick little post for my book addicts. I found a new site. They have a BUNCH of books. That you can read. For free. So if you have a book you want to read but not buy because it doesn't seem as if it is worth...look for it on here. I did that with The Duff by some Kody person. Not that good. Kind of sucks. Funny though. Funny because it is stupid. Yeah. BUT HERE IS THE SITE:

epubbub.com

I didn't feel like linking it. So don't be lazy like me and type it in. Yeah? Woof? Meow? Kay.

I'm Still Alive

Hey! So I know I've been really...dodgey? Is that even a word? Does it even fit the situation? I'm not sure...let's make it work, kay? I've been really dodgey lately with these posts. But that is because I have sold my life to theatre and it takes all of my time. That and sleep. And books. ANYWHO, last night was my senior prom(: And it was pretty awesome! Here are some pics of me, some of my friends, and some of the make-up I did for them:

I'm not very photogenic >.< Also, the girly in the gold dress that looks like a beautiful old Hollywood star, I did not do her make-up. A friend of ours did, and she looks beautiful doesn't she? I wish I could've gotten more pictures with people, but still. I enjoyed it! I think what would've been the icing on the cake would be a) If I actually had a date...a hot one. And b) if they would've played Shots by LMFAO. But they played Sexy and I Know It. So it's all cool(: Well I really must go, hopefully talk to you guys soon, kay?

30 Hour Famine

So as I said before. I just did a 30 hour famine. The link is here. (twice on here so far!)
Now I didn't do this to seem "cool" or to say "Oh, I've gone 30 hours without food before." I did it because I hate seeing people, children and adults, suffer. Because I want to make a different. And I know it's what God would want me to do. And before you shut this down because I mentioned God, we had Athiests doing this also. Now this was a church sponsored event, and I feel we are being quite successful.

If you haven't checked out the site, its for feeding hungry kids (mostly in Africa but my group in feeding Afghanistanian kids). Now I know we CONSTANTLY see the commercials staring Britney Spears or whoever asking for money for these children. But saying and doing is two different things. Did you know:

1) Some families in these countries have to live on less than $1.25. One of us will spend five times that for one meal, and do it again later. These people would want to kiss our feet if we gave them five bucks.

2) There is enough food to end world hunger. The problem is getting it to the people. They can't afford to buy it, or the get the education needed to get a job and afford the food. Why can't we give it to them instead of giving it to the dog. Who's life is more important? A child that may save your life one day or an animal that may be the cause of your death..jussaying. I'll save a child before I save my kitten (no matter how much I adore the fluff ball)

3) There are more people with a cell phone, than people with a toilet. What's more important? Telling your boyfriend you love him for the hundredth time, or helping someone get the proper sanitation they need. Over in some countries, the water from their outhouse mixes in with their drinking water and they don't have what they need to purify it.  More than 1 of 4 people in Afghanistan don't have access to clean water.Yeah, still think that iPhone is more important?

4) There are 925 million people starving, globally. That's like, 3 times the U.S. population. We are throwing food out because its been in the fridge for a day or we have the taste for something different. Come on, seriously? Invite someone who can't afford a meal over to pick it up. Or go bring it to them.

5) A child dies from hunger related issues every 8-12 seconds. Yeah while I'm typing this and you are reading, a child is dying. Depressing? Yes. Horrible? Yes. Preventable? Yes. There is no age range either. He/She may be 12 or 3 years old. And even more die from diseases like malaria, diarrhea, and so on because they aren't getting the nutrition needed to build a strong immune system or to even get the cures they need because they can't afford it.

6) 1 out of 3 girls have to be married by (and sometimes younger than) 15 just so they can keep up tradition and help their families. These girls are forced to be doing stuff they have no business doing at that age. Because they can't afford a better life. Come on, how would you feel if you had to be forced into this?

7) Less food will cause a stunt in growth. Children need to grow. How can they when they aren't getting what they need to continue on?

Guys this isn't something to ignore. I think the worse part of it is, is that this DOESN'T AFFECT US. It's so easy to overlook. We all complain about something (school, nasty food, a test, blahblahblah) and the truth is that these children would LOVE to have our life. They wouldn't mind school. They'd be ecstatic to get the opportunity to take a test. We are all so spoiled and lucky, we just don't ever think about it.

After I finished the famine at 6:00 p.m. tonight, our leader and a few others bought us all pizza to celebrate our success. We felt horrible. We stopped eating because we thought "if those kids could see all of this pizza, they wouldn't know how to react. They'd love it!" Even though we ate because we needed to, we still felt bad. We are still taking money. I hate eating now. I feel bad about it when I spend 5 bucks on a burger. 5 bucks could easily feed a family, or at least one kid for a week. Seriously people, we need to grow up and look at the world around us. I'm slowing down my food intake and I'm going to do more for these families. Maybe not tomorrow, but I am. It's a difference between saying and doing, and I plan on doing. How about you?

Remember: Hunger isn't a statistic. It is someone's child, mother, father, sister, etc.

Do Something. Please.

-Jasmine H.
